COVER SWAP

MAGAZINE COVER SWAP

This project involved creating two magazine covers targeting different audiences while using the same image.

After researching the elements that made up a proper magazine cover, I then brainstormed ideas for the magazine topics. Finding a striking image on Adobe Stock, I decided to use it as the basis for an environmental magazine, as it appeared to be a melting glacier. However, the silhouette of the lone hiker in the image then inspired me to create the second magazine about the sort of adventurous traveler who might set out in search of such a place.

I chose different color palettes for each cover, ensuring that the contrast would allow both covers to stand out on a shelf as well as provide visual clues to their content. In InDesign, I created the overall grid and chose serif fonts for the Climate Control cover, as this would primarily be a magazine heavily focused on serious articles, and sans-serif fonts for Off the Map as I felt this magazine would feature less text and more images.
